DEEPCUTT
Sarabande EP
Sci 001 / 6/10/08

Welcome to the wonderful world of Scion, where it’s all about the rolling beats and breaks, the atmospherics and the heavy edits, the warm, satisfying rumble of a speaker-bothering sub-bass.. All qualities present and correct in this our debut release, the ‘Sarabande’ EP by Deepcutt, a producer of extraordinary finesse and versatility.

Kicking off a suite of tracks that is deep, dark and lush by turns, opener ‘Karma’ deploys swirling beats, churning bass and panoramic atmospheric touches to create a deep, layered widescreen epic – pure audio sci-fi, and the perfect introduction to this artist and this label.

Cranking up the tempo and the tension, Deepcutt goes for straight-down-the-line breaks ‘n’ edits cinematic drama on ‘Control Device’, bound to bring a fond nostalgic inner glow to the heart of any fan of the taut, energetic Bristol D&B sound of the mid-late nineties.

Rounding off this small but perfectly-formed debut release from our small but (we hope) perfectly-formed brand new label, Deepcutt spoils us with closing track ‘Sarabande’, a gentle, downtempo rumbler, full of open space, warm, deep bottom end to make your coasters rattle, and dusky exotic melodics full of intrigue.. like motes of dust drifting in a late-afternoon sunbeam, but with loads of extra sub-bass..
